Summer is here, and it's time to savor food and enjoy live entertainment at carnivals, festivals and events planned in York County.
Here's a list of what's coming up:
St. Mary's Multicultural Festival
When: Friday, June 7 and Saturday, June 8
Hours: 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday and noon to 9 p.m. on Saturday

The event, formerly known as St. Mary's York Hispanic Festival, traditionally has been held on Father's Day weekend, which presented a conflict for some families, according to a news release. The organizers decided to hold it earlier this year.
“As pastor, I am fully immersed in both the Spanish-speaking and English-speaking communities, but this festival is a wonderful opportunity for the two communities to come together over their shared faith, their shared commitment to our church, and everyone’s love of good food,” the Rev. John Kuchinski said in the release.
The festival features food from a variety of Spanish-speaking countries, live music, dancing, children's activities and more, the release states. Traditional American carnival food also will be available.
Historic mills open house

Three historic mills in southern York County will be open for the public to see over the weekend, according to a news release.
They are:
New Park Wind Engine: This site features two rare open-geared Aermotor power mills, the release states. It is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday. It is located at 290 Woolen Mill Road in Fawn Township.
Wallace-Cross Mill: The York County-owned park showcases a small, rural water-powered grain mill with an over shot water wheel, the release states. The mill located at 15759 Cross Mill Road in East Hopewell Township will be open from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
Muddy Creek Forks Roller Mills: This mill is part of the Ma & Pa Railroad Heritage Village, which is 5 miles south of Brogue. The mill and grain elevator will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Juneteenth Family Cookout
When: Saturday, June 15
Hours: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The City of York is hosting the second annual Juneteenth Family Cookout.
Families are invited to bring their grills and favorite food to the free, large community cookout, according to a news release. The event will include a Kids Fun Zone, Black-owned businesses, games and entertainment.
Families can register by sending an email to ngaines@rosesymca.org. Vendors can register their space by emailing lthompson@yorkcity.org.
The federal holiday will be observed on Wednesday, June 19. Juneteenth commemorates the day enslaved African Americans were emancipated.
WellSpan, Highmark Wholecare, the YMCA and the York branch of the NAACP are sponsoring the event.
Penn-Mar Irish Festival
When: Saturday, June 15

This year marks the 22nd annual Penn-Mar Irish Festival. Entertainers will include Eileen Ivers, Screaming Orphans, Susquehanna Pipes and Drums, and the Emigsville Band.
The event will include Irish food, Irish dancers, cultural talks, children's activities and more.
Shrewsbury Fireman's Carnival
When: Monday, June 24 through Saturday, June 29
Hours: Opens at 5:30 p.m. each night

The Shrewsbury Fireman's Carnival is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. It will feature rides, games, nightly entertainment and more. One of the Budweiser Clydesdales will be there from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 27.
A fireworks display is set for 10 p.m. Friday, June 28. A parade will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 29.
New Freedom Lions Club Carnival
When: Monday, July 1 through Saturday, July 6
Hours: 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The carnival will include food, Bingo, a basket raffle, rides, entertainment and more. Fireworks will be set off at 10:30 p.m. Friday, July 5. The rain date is Saturday, July 6.
Mason Dixon Fair

The fair in southeastern York County showcases farm animals and offers a variety of events, including antique tractor pulls and skid loader rodeos.
Jefferson Carnival

York County Community Band Festival

Listen to four traditional community bands that date to the 1800s perform:

"These bands have been an integral part of our local culture, providing music and entertainment for generations," Michael Kirk, assistant director of The Emigsville Band, said in an email. "This festival is not just a concert; it is a celebration of the enduring legacy of community bands in our region."
Food trucks, crafts, vendors and more will be offered at the festival.
Wellsville Fire Company

The fair offers food, rides, games, Bingo, displays and entertainment. Some of the food will include chicken corn soup, roast beef platters, turkey pot pie, and fish or hamburger dinners.
Entertainment will include country and bluegrass music as well as Jesse Garron's "A Tribute to Elvis."
