Midsommar may not be truly terrifying, as there are no jump scares, but there are many kinds of horror. As you're watching this film, its terror sneaks up on you, crawls through your insides, and makes you shiver: a slow burn of dread.

You'd think this would make it less scary, but you'd be wrong, because all the nightmares are put in the spotlight.

Gore. There is one particularly bloody scene in Midsommar, which comes in the form of a ritual that requires two elders to commit suicide by jumping off a cliff in front of the entire commune. Hereditary is not so bloody, but there is a decapitation and immolation to look out for when watching the movie.
