PGA DFS Picks: Top Values for the RBC Canadian Open (2024) (2024)

The PGA Tour is heading north for the RBC Canadian Open, set to take place at Hamilton Golf Club in Ontario. Many of the tour’s top players will be competing, aiming to fine-tune their game ahead of another major tournament. The course hasn’t been featured since 2019, when Rory McIlroy emerged won, and he is once again a leading contender. From a DFS perspective, McIlroy is the most expensive, much like Scottie Scheffler often is, but there are many strong contenders in the field. Let’s get into my value PGA DFS picks for the 2024 Canadian Open.

PGA DFS: Canadian Open Tournament Preview

Hamilton Golf Club isn’t among the longest courses on tour, measuring just over 7,000 yards. This par-70 course emphasizes accuracy off the tee and precise distance control with mid- and short-range irons. While weather conditions can always add an element of unpredictability, the course is designed to be a fair test of golf rather than a birdie fest.

For this course, the ideal skill set includes sharp ball striking and strong putting on bentgrass greens. Overall, the layout allows for various playing styles to succeed, as distance isn’t a crucial factor.

PGA DFS Picks: Top Values

C.T. Pan

DFS Salary
DraftKings: $6,700
FanDuel: $8,400

I recommended CT Pan in a similar spot last week. The results weren’t fantastic, but a made cut and a 37th-place finish did the job for a guy in the mid-$6,000 range. He has that same price tag again this week, so why not stick with a guy who is finding his form? Pan actually flipped the putter for a change but was unable to fully capitalize thanks to underwhelming iron play.

The course is a good setup for a guy who doesn’t want to lean on distance off the tee. If Pan can gain strokes with the driver without being long, that should set him up nicely with mid-range irons. When Pan is at his best, it’s crisp iron play paired with hot putting, and he is close to that here. He is making cuts and the price is not moving, so I am going to run it back and hope he builds on what he did last week in Texas.

The PGA Lineup Generator is one of our easiest-to-use but also most effective tools we offer. All you need to do is select the DFS site and slate you plan to play, choose the level of ownership you want from your lineups (chalky, contrarian, balanced or all) and players you wish to lock in. Once you’re satisfied, Lineup Generator will churn out high-ROI lineups and give you the information to determine how you want to proceed.

Chan Kim

DFS Salary
DraftKings: $6,600
FanDuel: $8,700

This is a risk/reward play, as Chan Kim seems to have results all over the map lately. The last few tournaments have been missed cuts, but that doesn’t tell the full story. He has quality numbers on the approach, which is encouraging despite not finding the weekend. His putter, like with a lot of the $6,000 range, can be very cold at times, so we are hoping for some positive regression here. Still, Kim is striking the ball well and has real upside when it clicks.

Speaking of that upside, Kim has a sixth-place finish at Corales, a 14th at Valero and an eighth in Mexico. This type of finish keeps him in the player poor, and given some of his erratic form, he should very low ownership.

David Lipsky

DFS Salary
DraftKings: $5,400
FanDuel: $7,000

Before we dive into David Lipsky and his game, it’s important to state that, if you do not have to dip into the lower-$5,000 range, then there’s not much reason to. However, if you are building some aggressive lineups and need to save a lot of dollars, then Lipsky can help you do just that. He is sitting near the min, and despite some issues, he stands out in that range. His salary is so low that you are asking for a made cut, and pretty much everything else you get is just a bonus.

The case for Lipsky is an easy one, and he came out of nowhere last week to finish ninth in Texas. It wasn’t just a top-10 that catches my eye, but his absolutely nuclear iron play. Lipsky led the entire field in strokes gained on approach, which is jaw dropping when you consider who was in the field and his form coming in. Now, the question was whether it was a random result, or if he found something that will translate here. That’s always difficult to answer, but when you see approach numbers of that caliber on a guy who is under $6,000, you have to at least consider it. I’ll look to Lipsky on teams that have a very expensive pay-up option and hope he can bring some of what he did last week to Canada.
