“Both my albums ‘Unsent Mail’ and ‘Affectionately Yours’ are heavenly inspired by love and are on the theme of falling for someone. Now I know after my coming out, there are lots of speculation on who am I dating, are they a him or her? My upcoming album is heavy on pronouns, however I want my fans to appreciate my music like they have always been. They have always connected to music relating to their life. My songs have alwsy been a personal experience for them, and I don’t want it change just because I am dating someone. I really hope they can listen to this album the same way, without thinking who I am dating. “

Q: The soft launch of your s/o on insta a couple days has fans on their toes, it was so summery and flowery, is it a peek into what the album is going to be? You have always been experimentally with your music, Is the new album/ era going to be bubblegum? Have you changed your aesthetic for teenage girls now that you see them going crazy over you? Or is it a new aesthetic to match your queerness?

A: “The Instagram picture I posted was me, we were shooting for the music video for “I like me better when I’m with you”. As I said earlier as well, I am very keen on keeping this relationship very private. I would love to talk only about my music and what I feel about the situation I am in rather than who I am dating, haha no soft launching.

And for your second question, as an artist when inspiration strike, I only write what I feel and not what teen girls or queer community wants to listen from me, ofcource all these factors are considered when an album is made, when marketing is done, but believe me my music will never loose its essence to the music industry. I think why teenage girls or girls in general connect to my music is not only because of my looks, please do not disregard my grammy winning albums to my looks, ha-ha. I think they connect because in recent years I have really felt love on a deeper level and the intensity of my words must have felt through the songs, and who doesn’t feel a little feral for their first love right?...”
