What causes weak HDMI signal? ›

Possible causes may include; low specification HDMI cables, too many HDMI connections or overall/combined data cable installation exceeding the recommended cable length etc. If you experience any problems of this nature, please call our Technical Sales Team so we can help you find the right solution.

The AV2HDMI model converts AV (signal in) to HDMI (signal out). The HDMI2AV model converts HDMI (signal in) to AV (signal out). So you will have to consider what you want to achieve/convert with your devices.

A/V or Audio/Visual Cables will connect a device to a display source. They're essential if you're trying to connect items with USB, HDMI, or SVGA ports - and more besides.

Both work well, but of the two, HDMI is the better choice. It's a single cable for both audio and video hook-up that delivers superior picture quality, surround-sound audio, 3D support, and more, verses multiple cables using component connections.

TV displays "No Signal" or "HDMI Cable Disconnected" error messages. If an error message appears on your screen when an external device is connected to your TV via HDMI, it may mean that your HDMI cable is not properly connected, or that input is not being received from the currently selected source.

Converters, unlike adapters, are one-way. If you convert RCA to HDMI, something like an old VCR to a new TV, you would need this converter. If you need to go HDMI to RCA instead, something like a new DVD player to an older TV, you would need this converter.

If your TV has 4k HDR (high dynamic range) and you watch a lot of Blu-ray movies or HD streaming, you must have a high speed HDMI to handle the faster signals of HDR. With new entertainment equipment such as Blue-ray players, receivers, and speakers, many won't have an AV port anymore.

Usually, the longest HDMI run in the system would be between the receiver and the display, so connecting all sources to the receiver would allow you to use shorter (and typically more reliable and cheaper) HDMI cables.

Can I use AV and HDMI at the same time? ›

Can AV output be used while HDMI is in use, plus analog audio signal while HDMI is on? Yes, the composite AV video output works at the same time as HDMI. However, the only way to have simultaneous HDMI audio and AV audio is to set the Audio Output mode to STEREO.

Some HDMI cables use higher-quality materials, which ensures they'll stand up to long-term use. If you've invested in high-end components, a better cable can give you the best audio and video quality.

Think of it in terms of the device providing the signal. If you're trying to route video from A/V OUTPUT jacks into an HDMI input on the TV, then you need an A/V to HDMI converter. You are converting A/V signals to HDMI.

Use HDMI when you can. The cables are cheap, and having just one wire simplifies setup. If you can't, optical is fine. If your gear doesn't have HDMI, it can't take advantage of the high-resolution audio formats from Blu-ray anyway (unless you connect with analog, and decode from your Blu-ray player).

For when “No Signal” shows up

It's a common oversight to have the TV set to the wrong input, such as HDMI1 when intending to watch something connected to HDMI2, or vice versa. Simply cycling through the available inputs using your remote can often solve this issue.
