Mr. Walsh was born in Rich- mond, Virginia, on December 29, 1914, the son of James Percy Walsh and Minnie Betts Walsh. His sister, Elizabeth Bruce Walsh, predeceased him. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Rowe Walsh, and two children, Julia Walsh Narron and her husband, James Wi- ley Narron, of NC; and William Norvel Walsh, and his wife, Margaret Turner Walsh, and one granddaughter, Elizabeth Turner Walsh, all of Petersburg, Virginia; and by two step-grandchildren, Cath- erine Pelton, of Petersburg, and Wiley Narron, of His sister, Ruth Nelson Walsh, also of NC, survives him. Mr.

Walsh was a veteran of World War II, having served for years in the European and North African theaters with the Army Air Corps 315th Troop Carrier Command where he was awarded the Bronze Star. After the war, he returned to work at Philip Morris, but later moved his employment to Norton Company of Worcester, Mas- sachusetts (now St. Gobain of France) until he retired. In his retirement, the Walshes enjoyed their home on the Rappahan- nock River. Visitation will be at the home of James and Julia Narron, 105 Bridge Street, Thursday, July 15th, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

on February 7th, 1948. While raising three sons, she helped Ernie throughout his foreign service career with assignments in the Philippines, Thailand, Liberia and Washing- ton, DC. Geraldine Pate CHAPEL HILL Christy Morgan, 67, died peacefully at home on July 12, 2010 after a six year journey with cancer that both enriched and challenged her. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Robert H. Morgan and her two brothers, Frank Moyes of Boulder, CO and Peter Moyes of Highland Park, IL. Christy, born on June 12,1943, was the daughter of the late Christine and Frank Moyes of Yardley, PA, long-time Quakers, who were descendants of the founders of Germantown, PA. Christy received a BA in English from the Pennsylvania Univer- sity and an MA in Communica- tions from Temple University.

After graduation she pursued a number of editing assignments becoming the crossword puzzle Editor for Penny Press. She later spent four years in the Domini- can Republic, where she honed her golf and tennis skills, and on returning to the New York area became an executive assistant to the president of a private eq- uity After many moves around the country and internationally, she and her husband relocated to the Club in Chapel Hill in 2001. She felt it was the best move of her life and it gave her the opportunity to join with many friends involved in golf, reading, stock-picking and just having fun. Born in Chicago to Adrian Ashcroft and Grace Hill Rob- inson, she attended grammar school in Chicago and high school in Indianapolis before enrolling at Indiana University in Bloomington to study music. She continued her vocal train- ing at the Chicago Conservatory of Music and went on to earn a degree in voice from Butler University. For the next several years, she taught music at Fairfax Hall Junior College in Virginia and in the Sanford City Schools. She then married Lewis Cowper Lawrence, Sr. and devoted herself to caring for her family and her home.

Mrs. Lawrence was actively involved in many areas at Saint Luke United Methodist Church, particularly the music program, of which she was a vital part. Along with being a faithful member of the choir for more than years, she served on the Music Committee and on several occasions led the choir as its interim director. For many years she sang in choral groups in Lee County, in Moore Coun- ty, and in New Hampshire. An avid reader of biography, his- tory, Dickens, and Tolkein, she was a member of the Pierian Club for the past years.

Mrs. Lawrence also was an ac- complished knitter who enjoyed projects with the prayer shawl group at Saint Luke. Her garden, especially her roses, hy- drangeas, and peonies, brought her immense joy. Always de- lighted to visit new places and learn new things, she took win- ter vacations with her sister in Florida, traveled in Costa Rica with her daughters, and made family trips to Southport. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs.

Lawrence was preceded in death by her son, Lewis Cowper Lawrence, Jr. She is survived by her daugh- ters: Grace Lawrence of Ra- leigh; Martha Lawrence of Win- ston-Salem; and Lucy Lawrence and son-in-law David Cameron of Black Mountain; her sister, Joanne Healy of Granby, CT, several nieces and a nephew. Adrienne Jane Robinson Lawrence ZEBULON Rodger Howard Barrow, 62, of Zebulon, died at home on Wednesday, July 14th, surround- ed by his loving family following a courageous two year battle with cancer. Rodger is survived by his wife, Deborah Denton Barrow with whom he shared a strong and loving bond that will be cherished forever. Rodger and Deborah were blessed with two children, their daughter, Tammy Barrow Penley of Conover, NC and their son, Marcus Warren Barrow who resides in Hender- son NC with his wife Jeannie, and beautiful daughter, Addison. He is survived by his sister, Susan Barrow Nadel and her husband, Doug Nadel of Apex, as well as his brother, Wayne Barrow, wife Linda and their daughters of New Hampshire. Rodger is preceded in death by his parents, J.

Howard Bar- row and Elsie G. Barrow of Ra- leigh. Rodger attended Needham Broughton High School in Ra- leigh, NC and was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War. Rodger went on to obtain an as- sociates degree in Business Ad- ministration from College in Raleigh, NC. He had a 26 year career at Square Company in Knightdale, NC and then moved on to his dream of own- ing and operating his own woodworking, wood sales, and furniture restoration business, Woodwright Shop and East Wake Hardwoods, both lo- cated in Zebulon.

His ambition was to provide the wood he could for his customers. Often he would travel to hand pick the wood planks himself. His talent and admiration for the craft of woodworking motivated him to establish the Woodwork- ers of North Carolina (WONC) Gallery where woodsmiths from all areas of North Carolina could display their handcrafted pieces. Throughout his life Rodger was active in the Zebulon com- munity as a member of the Ze- bulon and a coach for the East Wake football league (the Zebulon Mini Mights). He was president of the Carolina Mudcats Booster Club for a year and a continuous member.

His most current and valued mem- bership was with the circle of that gathered at the Corner located in downtown Zebulon. Rodger faithfully participated in the morning ritual of sharing break- fast, great stories, and cherished conversations among old and new friends. A service will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, Zebulon United Methodist Church with visita- tion following the service at the same location. Rodger will be laid to rest beside his parents Saturday, 11:00 a.m., in Raleigh Memorial Park.
